CONGLETON WEATHER

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Through this weekend, high pressure will remain anchored to the north-east of the UK, maintaining dry and settled conditions, although it will be rather chilly. Monday will be rather breezy and a touch less cold, although it will remain dry with some sunshine.

Catch and Release trout best practice Here

So long as we all fish within the regulations, whether we are catch-and-release anglers or catch-and-keep anglers, that's just fine. But I hope more of us start thinking more in terms of quality than quantity. Maybe catching 10 trout on dry flies is better than pounding 50 fish in a day by running a synthetic worm and egg with a nymph rig beneath a strike indicator.

"There’s always a hot new fly. Precious few of these patterns are genuine breakthroughs destined to last for a hundred years, but more often they’re idle comments on existing traditions, explorations of half-baked theories, attempts to use new and interesting materials, to impress other tiers, or excuses to rename old patterns. The results are often pointless fads like the craze in some pretentious restaurants of plopping fried quail eggs on everything or calling sandwiches “paninis.”"
